"Team Send It" needs your help! Shitbox Rally Autumn 2022

In May this year, myself and Cameron Smith will be participating in the Shitbox Rally 2022 Autumn as "Team Send It."

We will be driving a 1989 Hot Pink Ford Capri convertible shitbox from Wollongong NSW to Mackay QLD, via the ouback town of Innamincka SA.

Here we are pictured above posing with our custom Shitbox - we've made several modifications to make it rally-worthy.  As you can see Mentor1 have got right behind the cause and generously sponsored us.

Whilst the drive will certainly be an adventure that will give us a lifetime of great memories (hopefully more behind the steering wheel than changing the other wheels!) the most important part of the rally is raising funds, and we have a minimum of $5,000 to raise by May. We're proud and excited to say that so far we have raised $3,245 thanks to many generous donations.

I personally will be focussing my fundraising efforts in memory of 2 people: my dear friend and colleague Bridget Poolman's daughter Evie, who passed away in June 2021 age just 9 after being diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG). DIPG is an extremely rare form of brain cancer that mostly targets children and sadly still today has a zero survival rate.  There just isn't enough research being done to develop better outcomes for patients and their families.
I will also be fundraising in memory of Greg Hopkins who passed away in March 2021 after a battle with melanoma. Greg was just 49 years old and is the much loved and missed dad of my colleague and friend Ashleigh who works with me here at Mentor1.

There's plenty more fundraising to do and we would welcome any donation to the cause! The Shitbox Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for the Cancer Council in Australia, and all funds go to this fantastic organisation.

Make sure to follow us along on our journey getting the pink shitbox across the Rally finish line - with any luck she'll be in tip top shape for the charity auction at the end!
